Finding skincare products that work for me has always been one of the most challenging aspects of my beauty routine.
It’s been a while since I wrote my last skincare post, so I thought I’d share some additions to my routine! I switch back and forth between being adventurous with trying new products and then swearing off trying anything new when one of my skincare experiments goes terribly wrong!
I have combination skin that’s sensitive and blemish-prone. My biggest skincare concern is keeping breakouts under control and I’ve found the most improvement in that realm by getting a topical prescription from my dermatologist called Benzaclin (it’s been a life-changer for me, but unfortunately it’s quite pricey even with my insurance)! I’ve also done a lot of trial and error to find haircare products that don’t irritate my skin, which includes steering clear of thick conditioners, hair styling products, and anything else which causes buildup on my hair. Keeping my skin under control gives me more freedom to have fun with skincare products and here are some that I’ve been loving lately:
Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask: If you’re looking for a cool face mask, this is it! I saw it demoed by my fave beauty YouTuber, Shannon, and purchased it on Amazon right after I finished watching her video! After you apply the mask, it bubbles up and feels tingly, then after a few minutes you can massage the bubbles and it turns into a creamy clay! It helps minimize pores and honestly, it’s just fun to use!
Mizon Snail Cream: No, that’s not a typo! I did indeed say snail cream. Popular on the Asian skincare market, snail-based products are made with a high percentage of snail excretions (the slimy stuff they leave behind as they move) and are said to reduce fine lines and the appearance of acne scarring and blemishes. You can even buy it at Target now, which I think is so crazy cool! They also have a serum version HERE that I like as well!
Nexcare Acne Patches: If you haven’t noticed, I have a thing for Asian skincare 🙂 I’m not sure why acne patches aren’t a big deal in the US, but they are the best thing ever for blemishes. It’s a hydrocolloid bandage which literally “sucks” the gunk out a blemish (ew!) and it’s way kinder to your skin than drying the heck out of it with a highly concentrated salicylic acid spot treatment.
Garnier Anti-Puff Roller: The Garnier roller ball is a cult favorite and I love it even though I don’t struggle with puffy undereyes. The metal roller tip is so cooling and rejuvenating! I have the knock-off RiteAid version right now, but the Garnier one is definitely best (although I’ve heard the CVS one is good as well)!
