For the first time ever, I can happily say that I have a skincare regime that works for me!
I’ve always been the type to constantly fiddle with my skincare products in the hopes of finding something better, but I feel totally content with my current lineup! I always love reading these types of posts (and they’re fun to write!), so I thought I’d share my top skincare picks with you all! While everyone has different skincare needs, and what works for me might not be the best choice for you, I hope this post helps if you’re looking to improve an area of your skincare routine!
For reference, I have sensitive, combination skin!
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water– My biggest skincare secret and the one beauty item I can’t live without! Micellar waters have been quite trendy in skincare lately and I never understood the hype until I found this! “Micelles” (a fancy word for a cluster of molecules) act like magnets and effectively capture and remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Some people use this as their only cleansing step, but I always follow up with a creamy cleanser to further cleanse the skin. If you want to give this a try, make sure you get the pink cap product instead of the blue (which is meant for waterproof makeup, but I didn’t care for it) and use it on a cotton round.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes – I’ve used this to remove eye makeup for as long as I can remember. I tear one of the sheets in half and add some cleansing water on the already saturated wipe. It does an amazing job at removing my many layers of mascara and any waterproof eyeliner! I then wipe away any residue from the wipe with the cotton round I used on my face.
SKII Facial Treatment Cleanser– Definitely the priciest item in my skincare regime, but it’s the only cleanser that doesn’t cause breakouts! It dries out my skin slightly, so I always make sure to moisturize properly afterwards!
First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser– A great alternative for the SKII cleanser!
Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream– I adore this moisturizer. My skin can take a heavier cream year round, but Dr. Jart also makes a great gel-cream version if you’re looking for something lighter! It always soothes any flakey skin and I love the slight herbal scent!
First Aid Beauty Mineral Sunscreen– I went years and years without wearing sunscreen because it caused my skin so many issues (terrible, I know)! I can’t say enough great things about this lightweight, mineral based sunscreen. It doesn’t leave a white cast, sinks in right away, and doesn’t make the skin feel sticky or greasy.
Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream– I’m not partial to one eye cream or the other, but I’ve been quite pleased with this one as of late!
Fresh Rose Face Mask– Without exaggeration, I’ve used this since I was 10 (home spa dates with mom)! The smell brings back such memories! It’s a gel mask with actual rose petals in it and feels oh so luxurious!
Clinique Emergency Gel-Lotion– This spot treatment is great for treating blemishes without drying them out terribly (and therefore causing even more issues)!
Stridex Maximum Strength Pads– These are much too strong to use on my face, but I love them for removing product buildup and dirt on my chest, shoulders, back, and neck. I do a quick swipe with one pad after I get out of the shower and love the tingly, clean feeling they give.
side note: If you’re constantly battling acne, be sure to make an appointment with the dermatologist! Not all types of acne can be cured with over-the-counter products, which are only effective on a very surface level. When my skin was constantly breaking out, I was prescribed Benzaclin (a cream mixture of an antibiotic with a clinical dosage of benzyl peroxide) and it gave me my confidence back!
Please feel free to share your favorites, as I’m always open to trying something new! 🙂
