When my mum was here visiting last week, we had a little staycation at the Palace Hotel in downtown San Francisco. I’d seen many pictures of the Palace Hotel on Instagram and walked by it countless times, but had never actually stopped in before! Christmas was the perfect time to come, as they had beautiful decorations!
The Palace is a historic landmark hotel, with the original structure being built in 1875. After a massive fire broke out from 1906 earthquake, the hotel was gutted and restored in 1909. I mentioned to my mum that the interior felt a bit like being on the Titanic! Grand staircases, long galleys, heavy wooden doors, and elaborate crown molding had me feeling like I could run barefoot down the halls like Rose- just without the water…or Jack 😉
During the year, the Palace hosts high tea time in the Garden Court, complete with fancy tea and little pastries and sandwiches. Tea time is held every day during the holidays, which we sadly didn’t get the time to experience, but I would love to go back in a couple of weeks on a Sunday!
